Individual Therapy

There are many approaches to individual therapy. At Hemlock, we may focus on thought patterns, relational dynamics, triggers, and patterns regarding coping and managing symptoms. Therapists at Hemlock may help clients reframing negative thought patterns, build insight into past relational patterns, and creating more fulfilling patterns of relating to others. Furthermore, therapists may consider how cultural and systemic factors have impacted both relationships and clients’ beliefs about themselves.

Couples Therapy

Couples can explore their communication patterns, identify sources of tension or dissatisfaction, and develop strategies to increase intimacy and connection. Goals may include promoting understanding and connection between partners, fostering healthier communication patterns, strengthening emotional bonds, and cultivating a more fulfilling relationship dynamic. Common topics in couples or pre-martial counseling include: sex, finances, household tasks, patterns of conflict, parenting, and more.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective treatment for trauma. Traumatic experiences can get stuck as unprocessed memories stored in the nervous system, leading to uncomfortable symptoms. EMDR helps individuals identify and process stuck memories, reducing symptoms and promoting emotional healing. EMDR unlocks the nervous system, allowing the brain to integrate the experience decreasing overwhelming symptoms. The individual's brain naturally drives the healing process.
